Tunisia is growing in popularity as a destination for medical travel tourism. Prices are extremely competitive compared with the UK and western Europe and there are regular, inexpensive flights.

And, of course, there is the fine Mediterranean climate - perfect for convalescing & treatment.

At present, Tunisia has nearly 80 private clinics with an accommodation capacity of 2500 beds, and most of these clinics are well developed and with the latest technologies. With more than 8000 doctors whose qualifications are recognized in Europe and clinics that are compliant with all European standards, Tunisia attracts more and more Brits, Germans, Italians, French, Belgians, Swiss, Portuguese, and Spaniards. The number of foreign patients having been treated in private Tunisian clinics has grown rapidly in the last five years.

Most foreign patients come to Tunisia to undertake specialized surgical operations in the fields of cardiology, orthopaedics, ophthalmology, gynaecology or urology. Europeans are particularly attracted by the good reputation of Tunisian doctors in the field of cosmetic surgery and ophthalmologic, orthopaedic and dental care.

The rates are 40% to 60% less expensive than rates paid in Western countries, even allowing for a stay of one week. Its proximity to Europe makes Tunisia an attractive alternative to India and Thailand.
